Cardiac Rehab is a supervised exercise and education program for people who have experienced a heart attack, heart surgery, or heart disease. Three Phases of Cardiac Rehab are offered at Mercy Hospital.

Phase I is for inpatients. Phase II is an outpatient program for patients who have had some form of heart surgery, stents, or angina. A physician referral is required to exercise in Phase II and is covered by most insurance companies. Phase III is an exercise program which is a continuation of Phase II and is not covered by insurance.
The program is designed to educate patients to make positive lifestyle changes in diet, exercise and smoking cessation. The goal of the program is to improve or maintain physical conditioning as well as reduce risk factors for future heart problems. EKG, blood pressures, and oxygen saturation are monitored during exercise. Regualr communication is also provided to a patient's physician regarding progress.
Exercise sessions are held Monday through Friday. Most patients attend 3 times a week for 8 - 12 weeks on Phase II. The following is a list of exercise equipment in our facility: Treadmills, Airdyne Stationery Bikes, Nustep, Recumbant Bike, Steps and Arm ergometers.
Cardiac Rehab is located on the 1st floor of Mercy Hospital.
